Abstract This article discusses recent developments in international climate change law, respect of which Pacific island countries and territories ( PIC s) have made a particularly significant contribution. s been instrumental shaping the treaty regime since its inception early 1990s. Since adoption Paris Agreement 2015, however, progress has stalled – even more so global pandemic. With focus on Suva Declaration Climate Change released prior to negotiations Paris, this assesses two areas that received considerable attention from representatives due their importance region: long-term temperature goal Talanoa Dialogue; issue loss damage. While managed make gains both areas, science indicates current efforts are insufficient avoid catastrophic impacts for region. In light this, certain leaders looking outside system other ways protect communities ecosystems.
